The two Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley lands of Wizarding World of Harry Potter are an opportunity for shopping.
Shopping is, indeed, an enormous part of the experience as you make up your magical gear for what Harry Potter and his friends did in their works and films. Each Harry Potter Shop features your own house crest merchandise and robes, but some gift shops are better than others, and I’m going to catch up on why here.
Best Harry Potter Gifts You Can Buy In Advance
Of course, you can see people with all kinds of Harry Potter paraphernalia purchased before they got there, including t-shirts, special walls, jewelry, and more as you walk around the world of Harry Potter’s wizards.
Since we’re a big fan family of Harry Potter, I still chase Etsy and Amazon to show us any nice stuff or stuff we can make on our journey. Some of my favorites are here:
- Deathly Hallows necklace
- I solemnly swear that I am up to no good t-shirt
- “My Patronus is a…” t-shirt
- I’m just here for the Butterbeer shirt
- illustrated versions of the Harry Potter books!
The Most Popular Souvenirs In Universal
While you’re in the park, Harry Potter fans are sure to get some crazy memories of Harry Potter. We ‘re still buying sweatshirts, t-shirts, postcards, Harry potter’s stickers, bugs, pens, any time we go – you name it! But the interactive wand and pgymy puff were the best souvenirs we’ve ever bought.
Either you fan the ornate Elder wand of Dumbledore, the delicately graved wand of Hermione, or the simpler wand of Harry, here is your wand.
The purchasing of an interactive wall at Universal Orlando is nearly a must-have for Harry Potter World. Interactive bandages help the wizards and sorcerers cast spells throughout the Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade at special store windows. Interactive walls are worth approximately $50 USD. They have worth every penny for us, because they have made our children feel that they were not only muggles but also that they felt like a wizard!
What is so cool is that you only need to buy an interactive wall once and use it when you visit next time. In both Universal Orlando and Universal Hollywood, we used the same walls. You may buy a wall from Ollivanders, Wands from Gregorovitch, or a wall truck. Wands Gregorovitch can only be found at Diagon Alley, but both Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade can be visited by the Ollivanders branch. Wand carts are dispersed across Harry Potter’s Wizarding World.
If you want to have a full wand experience, stop there. Wand reveal Olivanders. Often there is a line, but the show takes only 5 minutes and Ollivander himself selects a single person from the crowd to demonstrate a ceremony for wall selection. You have to pay for the wand, though. The show is free.
Do you want to buy a wand save time? In Ollivanders in Diagon Alley it is typically quieter than in Ollivanders in Hogsmeade.
It was a particularly busy time when our children got their walls, so we stopped at one of the wall carts. There’s a good choice of carts, but not every wall. Since the wall chose the wizard, Dumbledore ‘s wall chose our daughter, and the wall of Sirius Black chose our son.
2. Pygmy Puffs
Continue to read because not only do I write about some Pygmy Puff. In Weasleys Wizarding Wheezes, in the Diagon Alley, I am talking about the Pgymies Puffs. It’s those adorable puff balls that the girls wanted at Hogwarts. If you don’t know what a pygmy puff is. Ginny got and named it Arnold in Harry Potter and Half-Blood Prince.
In fact, Pygmy puffs are also popular with real girls. I know they’ve been for me, at least. Fortunately, at Weasleys Wizarding Wheezes, we chose to take one because it seemed more real, and Ginny had it. Each time a Weasleys Wizarding Wheezes first adopts a pygmy jar, the clerk walks a naming ceremony with a ringing of the bell and a shout of the name.
During the ceremony, the name of the pygmy puff is certainly a special experience for Universal Orlando and the second best Harry Potter souvenir.
The one advantage I might add is, that you do get a “Howler” if you visit the Owl Post for postcards. (These were the mysterious letters from owl at Hogwarts, usually from your mother who shouted at you for something.)
It’s like one of those greeting cards in the non-magical edition that allows you to record your own message. If Hannah doesn’t write me sleep camp letters next year, I ‘m saving mine. So Hannah, you ‘re alert if you’re reading this … send these letters to your bunk or you’re sending a Howler!!
4. Wizarding Robes
If you want to dress up in a wizard dress you own, then Mrs Malkin’s Robes is the place to go. For every opportunity. For each of the four houses, you can find Hogwarts uniforms and robes, so you can pick from Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw and really get into the spirit when exploring the forest. You can also purchase replica costumes from the movies. Look for the perfect Yule Ball clothes and Dumbledore robes by Hermione.
5. Funny Pets
Hogwarts students should bring an owl, a cat or a toad with them. There are plenty of cuddly toys for fun souvenirs that you would like to consider your own furry companion and are much easyer to take care of!
You will find the right partner at the Enchanted Menagerie, be it Hedwig, Fang, Buckbeak or Crookshanks. We love the lovely Pygmy Puffs too and when you buy it you have the opportunity to participate in a fun adoption ceremony before the entire store.
6. Magical Sweets
We know it might be a little difficult to get these people home without first eating them, but if you do, once you go back home, you will be very grateful for the delicious wizardy treats. Honeydukes is an excellent place to please your sweet tooth and pick up tasty delicacies such as chocolate walls, bubble-free, fudge flies and toads for a few of you.
Fans from Harry Potter also get to know Bertie Bott’s Every Flavor Beans. You never know what with these unique candies you will get, and if you face a challenge, dive and see the flavor that is available. Warn it, from candyfloss to rotten egg it could be anything!
7. Love Potion
The crazy Weasley twins have been known for their hilarious brushes in Hogwarts. Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes is her own new joke shop, full of hundreds of odd and beautiful souvenirs which you’ll take home. Sneakoscopes, peruvian instant dark powder, stretchable ears, love potions, puking pads etc. A visit and a place to have a lot of fun is definitely worth the colorful shop.
8. Exchange Gringotts Money
Avoid Gringotts Money Exchange when you go to Universal for the trading of US currency on Gringotts bank notes (10 or 20 dollars). In Diagon Lane, Hogsmeade and a number of other locations you can use your Gringotts currency for purchases.
At the end of the day, you can keep unused Gringotts as a souvenir (or, if you prefer, substitute them with U.S. currency). You can also pick up some nice coins online from Harry Potter Gringotts.
9. Shutterbuttons Images
Shutterbuttons are a must if you are searching for other picture keepsakes by Harry Potter. In the shop, 12 scenes where your photo is taken in costumes are guided. In a shutter-button collected box, you can buy a DVD picture set.
Butterbeer from Universal Orlando sadly you can’t bring around. Possibly a positive thing, actually. I really love the cold butterbeer, so I’d probably have it at home several times a week, which is definitely no good thing for the waistline.
Although you can’t bring home butterbeer, buy a refillable Harry Potter mug, to take home the next best thing. Your butterbeer refill won’t offer a discount, but it will be refilled at the same price as an regular butterbeer.
When you purchased a souvenir butterbeer cup, we said that it can not be used at any of the same places as the rechargeable cup for discounted soda refills.
