For many years, Nickelodeon Studios building was the main feature of Production Central, with a giant “slime geyser” fountain out front and full production studios inside; here, Universal guests could watch live tapings of Nick programs, including Double Dare, Clarissa Explains It All, and Legends of Hidden Temple. When Nickelodeon moved its productions to New York and California, Soundstage 18 was repurposed for Blue Man Group and officially “rezoned” outside the park, becoming part of CityWalk, so that guests could access show without theme-park admission.
Production Central Location
Production Central sits at front of World StudioFlorida and is the first land guests see upon entering the park and passing through Front Lot. It’s a shame, therefore, that this is one of most meh main streets of any theme park, with bland beige buildings broken up only by incongruously colossal coaster tracks. Its underwhelming aesthetics doesn’t seem to hurt the area’s attractiveness to guests since Production Central holds three of the park’s most popular attractions outside of Diagon Alley.
In addition to rides, show, and counter-service restaurant, Production Center is home to Music Plaza Stage, a Hollywood Bowl-inspired amphitheater with an astroturf viewing lawn (where you’ll often find unconscious tourists sprawled on sunny days) that are used during Mardi Gras concerts and similar special events. There is also access (when applicable) from here to soundstages used for television production and Halloween haunted houses.
Production Central Attractions
Production Central is where your adventure starts as you enter World StudioFlorida. The first thing you might notice is this area of the park is not dressed up like other sections and that is because this area shows the working side of studios. Attractions like Shrek 4-D and Despicable Me Minion Mayhem are in decorated soundstages, but for the most part, this part of the park represents what a working studio should look like. Two of the most popular attractions at World StudioFlorida have a home in Production Central – TRANSFORMERS: Ride – 3D and Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit. While shopping opportunities are plentiful, dining options are lackluster.
Help Gru with his experiments, rescue Margo, Edith, and Agnes, and party like a Minion on this motion-simulator show/ride hybrid.
